I'm in awe. Everything you say is simply brilliant. And you've written all this incredible insight over only a few days.
Thank you for your knowledge and sharing.
I was listening to John Valliant (author of Fire weather - A True Story From a Hotter World) being interviewed by the BBC's Today programme last week - he has made a terrifying observation after years of observing human behaviour and the catastrophe of forest fires. He has concluded that the strategies we use to survive is what might cause humanity’s eventual demise; that our survival strategies force us to disconnect from reality creating a dissonance with the truth. So, the notion that we might be able to encourage global behaviour change is possibly futile; our collective psyche won’t allow it. For someone like me, who works to help connect people to the natural world in the hope that it will lead to pro-environmental behaviour, it’s a concept that is hard to digest. But digest and reset I will… because another survival strategy is at play – the power of hope.
Even amidst the horror and challenge of collapse and the "end of history."
I apologize for not finding you until very recently and not paying to subscribe until this year. Its not that I was not interested or looking.
I have been privileged in personally knowing, some for many decades many if your prior guests.
And to hit-it-off with John Vervaeke is sooooo perfect!
I have more to share, with your personally, while I adapt to this site.
I should mention that I am an elder, I work every day directing a national non-profit, and one of our prior "WORKS" was the passage of the last major National Legislation for Ecology and the Environment. It was in this USA, and don't be shocked.
You would love the story there, and maybe we could share it some time.
